Flip Side

Cowgirl Up:

1. Be your own woman, make your own path, and take responsibility for who you are and what you do
2. To step up to a challenge; to toughen up; to make something happen, as opposed to just bitching about it; taking charge of a situation. The feminine variation of "cowboy up."
Maria: My boyfriend treats me like shit, but I think I'd be alone without him. Joanie: It's time to cowgirl up and leave his sorry ass.

1 botte dry Vermouth
Cocktail Olive

'Nuff Said

Man Up:

1. to fulfill your responsibilites as a man, despite your insecurities and constant ability to place yourself in embarrasing and un-manly scenarios.

2. Be strong- Take control, take control of a (the) situation, be strong, rise to the moment

3. To work through impediments and obstacles without whining

4. Don't be a pussy, brave it, be daring.

Cowboy Up:

1. it means when things are getting tough you have to get back up, dust yourself off and keep trying.

2. When faced with a hard chore, it's a shift in attitude from "can't" to a positive "can-do" with confidence and a non-complaining spirit that becomes contageous.

3. Used in the same sense as the expression "get yourself together." Often heard with an expletive. "Cowboy the f*** up!"

I'm such a slug...

I've got one week of work left before I start my and I'm not doing anything. It's kinda sad packing up the last 4 years of my life and moving on from good friends I've made at work. Well, at least I can bring their resumes with me. I've pretty much closed out everything i'm supposed to do and just waiting for my last day next Thursday. After that, I'm off to new and different challenges.

It feels like forever since I got to play bass at Church. I'm stoked to get to play next week. The team is awesome this year. The chemistry is great! Only thing is, I have to play cello at a wedding right after service, so I have to show up to EPIC in a tux. I don't think anyone's even ever worn a tie to church. Maybe I can convince the whole worship team to come in formal wear...how 'bout it Samurai Princess? Think we can swing that?

Jury Duty

So I had wonderful opportunity to serve jury duty last week in the beautiful city of Compton. The area in and around the courthouse was actually pretty nice...a lot nicer than Santa Ana's court. Anyways, as I'm sitting in the courtroom listening to people answer the same 8 questions, I realized that there are some real winners out there. There were dudes who had DUI's, some had drug convictions, others who had gotten in fights with everyone under the sun, and even a guy who had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon...and these guys were on MY side of the jury bench! Anyways, with all these people, this guy was my favorite. Picture this...a balding overweight middle aged man with a comb-over comes walking into the courtroom wearing a T-shirt with a close-up headshot of Darth Vader's (without the mask) with a handful of comic books. At this point, I'm thinking I met the real life version of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons!

But it gets better! The judge asks him if there is any reason he wouldn't be able to serve on the jury. Comic Book Guy (CBG from this point forward) sites financial hardships. So the judge asks him if he rents or owns. CBG's answer? "I live at home." Turns out, this guy still lives with his parents...and doesn't pay rent! At this time, the following questions take place:

Judge: "So you live with your parents and don't pay rent...what kind of financial hardships do you have?"

CBG: "I have some bills to pay"

Judge: "What kind of bills?"

CBG: "I have a couple phone bills...oh...and some credit card bills"

Judge: "Uh...that's not a lot of bills, where do you work?"

CBG: "I work part time"

Judge: "Ok...again, where do you work?"

CBG: "I'm a part time cashier at Knott's Berry Farm"

Anyways, no knock on people that works at Knott's, but common! This dude is 45 years old or so and still living at home working part time at Knott's? Dang...that's kinda sad. Now, is it his fault for not moving out or his parents for enabling him? Probably a bit of both. Such a sad situation.

I'm all for the criminal justice system and due process, but these guys? A Jury of my Peers? Gawd I hope not.

2 oz Frangelico
2 oz Amaretto
2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1 oz Creme de Cocoa Dark
1 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Butterscotch Liquer
